Now, I know not all of you are moms – (and I love you still the same!) – but I’ve recently realized I really want to focus in on those in this similar current season of life.
Nothing major is changing here, but I just wanted to officially explain my updated tagline: Fitness tips and Bible-based encouragement for moms needing peace and simplicity.
That’s really what’s on my heart. I want to really connect with other moms who may be struggling to find time for both fitness and God in the midst of motherhood.
And believe me when I say, it’s NOT because I have it all figured out. I definitely don’t. But writing about it here helps me keep my priorities and actions aligned.
And, hopefully, even if you’re not a mom, you will still find something helpful here…
My biggest hope is that together, we can all learn to:
Live Well
(through exercising, eating, sleeping, drinking water, etc)
and
Love Life
(find joy in our roles as moms; be content with the bodies we’ve been given; share happiness with others around us; etc.)
That’s my message … #LiveWellLoveLife. I’d love for you to join me on the journey!
With that being said, I start thinking about how I can love life this summer…Chasing butterflies, running through the sprinklers, playing at the beach… Summer tends to be a very ACTIVE season!
So the question is – Are you healthy and fit and ready for it?
While many people focus on the “summer shred” or being “bikini-ready” this time of year, I really just want people (moms, especially) to put their own fitness first in order to truly enjoy and experience the possibilities of fun with their families!
Do you find yourself sending your kids outside to play by themselves because you’re too tired to go yourself? Does their seemingly unending energy outmatch your own? Good news! There’s something you can do about that!
And it involves exercising and eating well!
Starting the day off with exercise is the best way for me to have some extra energy and a happy heart from the very beginning of the day.
I try to stick to a pretty basic, lots of “real” foods meal plan, and then, I do drink a nutrient-dense, vitamin-packed shake during those mid-afternoon slumps to get me through that post-nap, pre-dinner craziness.
And before I know it, our day is wrapping up and it’s time to do it all over again!
While hanging from swing sets is TOTALLY optional, I do want you to feel energized enough to get out there and play with your kids. The time we have with them is short. And our time is what they want more than anything.
Even though I love going to the Y, I know that our time could perhaps be better spent together. If I can get my own workout done right away in the morning (hopefully before they even get out of bed!), then we have the rest of the day for playing and exploring.
On the days when we do go to the Y to workout, I find (by the time we run an errand or two), get home, have lunch, and take our naps, there’s little of the day left! My personal goal for the summer is to make my exercise happen right away so that we can enjoy every. single. summer. day.
If you want to join me, let me know! Whether that’s just stating you are setting the goal of doing the same, or if you want to get involved in the Summer FitCamp for Moms for added encouragement and accountability. Either way is great!
{Summer FitCamp registration will close on Wed. May 20th so we have time to prepare for the official start day on Tuesday May 26th (following Memorial Day). Let me know ASAP if you want to get in on the fun.}
God created us to be the mothers that our specific kiddos need. Let’s be fit and healthy enough to fulfill our role well.
Even though the longer hours of sunlight and the lack of a routine school schedule allow for tiring (and dare I say it, “boring!”) days, I’m hoping we can find adventure and excitement in our fit, yet simple summer ahead.
P.S. Does anyone have any great Summer Bucket List items? My Type-A personality makes me want to design my own cute and colorful list with exactly what we want to do …. but in order to bring it back to that simplicity I mentioned above, I’m just going to print a couple of these options and highlight the ones that seem realistic for our family.
But, just as I wrote that, I thought, “What fun would that be? Maybe I should put a couple “unrealistic” things on the list too!”
So, who’s got a potentially “unrealistic” Summer Bucket List suggestion? I think I’m feeling up for a challenge – all in the name of family fun!
Hoping you are ready to Live Well and Love Life this summer!
