There’s only a few days until Christmas – and you’ve probably all got your gifts wrapped and party foods planned…

But I just wanted to pop in and share a random post of two things that happened here yesterday – A quick and healthy holiday appetizer and a cute little Christmas gift (like for neighbors, mail people, etc.)
I know there’s a bazillion cute ways to make a healthy Christmas tree appetizer plate. Here’s what I did yesterday (very) quickly with things I had on hand.
* Green Grapes
* Clementine slices
* Dried Cranberries
* Almonds for the trunk
And then there’s the simple and healthy little gift we’ll be sharing with several friends and neighbors. I saw the clementine wreath idea on Pinterest, but it used clear cellophane – definitely not something I had on hand.
A quick side story … One of the best investments I’ve made this year was the online shopping service at Harris Teeter. Not only can I shop from the convenience of my computer without dragging two small boys into a store, but I can also know exactly what my total bill will be before I check out. And bonus – no impulse buys!
Anyway — I liked the clementine idea but didn’t really want to drive into “the city” or search store to store to find clear cellophane. I happened to have a grocery order to pick-up yesterday morning, so I called and asked if the floral department happened to have any cellophane that could be purchased. I asked for green, thinking that would look more wreath-like anyway. Instead of cellophane, they had this amazing embossed green foil that worked even better!
I added three large boxes of clementines to my list and spent the afternoon twisting citrus fruit and tying ribbon. The green foil was the perfect size… I ended up cutting it in half lengthwise and had 37×10 inch sheets, which wrapped 5 clementines exactly. It was awesome!
I wrote a little message, mostly so that people would know that there was indeed fruit inside to be eaten and that our focus of gift-giving is simply on Jesus.
A holiday wreath of clementines. Hope it lets His light shine.
Nothing fancy – I’m no Martha Stewart. But pleased with the simple, healthy ideas that transpired.
Merry Christmas!
