Something about the word “press ”… It’s sort of messing me up.
Press-on nails. Do they even make those anymore? Jamberry, you’ve revolutionized the manicure world.
Press, as in pressing or ironing clothes. (Do people even do THAT anymore? Ha! One look at some of our clothes, and you’d realize it’s a very rare occasion here. Mostly because I feel like I end up putting more wrinkles in the clothes than when I started. It gets ugly. I turn all Lady MacBeth-like, “Out, da** wrinkles! Out!” Sorry, a little tangent there. Think I might need a little therapy…)
Bench press. Printing press. Press the button. No, no, no.
Maybe if I could just substitute the word “push”.
For some reason, “one last big push” seems to resonate better with me. Ha!
Pushing takes significant effort. You know you want to go there, but it’s going to take some hard work and elbow grease to get it done.
Push through – that difficult season of life, that difficult week, that difficult day, that difficult workout. You can do it – just push through. It won’t last forever. That’s a promise!
What are we pushing toward? A goal.
Think about what you’d like to achieve. I’m sure you’ve heard all of the rules about good goal setting. Make it specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based.
But consider this: Have you ever allowed goal-setting to actually sabotage your healthy lifestyle decisions? For example, if your goal was to NOT do x unhealthy activity this week, but it’s already happened by Tuesday, how does the rest of the week usually unfold?
Oh well – I’ve already NOT met my goal. Maybe next week.
Make EVERY DAY COUNT. Stop saying tomorrow or next week. Just make the next healthy decision. Right now.
Now, I know if you’re participating in the Challenge, you just can’t wait to see if you win the $100 prize. Pins and needles. Pins and needles, I’m sure!
But seriously, the most unbelievably amazing prize is going to be heaven, of course! I love that I can’t even wrap my mind around how awesome it’s going to be (which is weird, because I usually hate not knowing every little detail!).
If you’re not so convinced, (as in you don’t know Jesus), send me a message – I’d love to chat. Don’t worry, I’m not a salesperson for heaven. I’d just love to hear your thoughts and questions. God will open the doors of your heart when it’s right for you – He wants EVERYONE to experience the glory.
But here we are – Setting goals. “Pushing” on towards prizes. Knowing that any reward is going to take some significant effort. Keep pushing on, my friends!
